Where are we
Start of Season Show
6th May, 2012
What a show that was, the sun shined on us for most of the day.
This brought out the people of Oatlands & surrounding areas, as well as modellers from near & far.
For a change, we tried running the days sailing to a program, so that all like minded modellers could sail together, it was a great success. Highlights included the Fast Electrics, Warships & every ones favourite, the Wee Nips. When I say everyone, perhaps that should read some or maybe a few. All I can say is I enjoyed seeing them float gracefully in the light wind conditions, all 15 of them.
The club engineers had a table for the first time, showing their excellent workmanship. This was well received, with a steady flow of questions being answered all day.
Must say, I'm getting increasingly worried about our Chairman, Brian Cowell, who turned up with his rubber ducks! Someone else brought a scabby swan, which a member of the public was seen trying to feed!
A visitor from another club said, this is the best show I've ever been to, he must get out more, To be honest, there was a buzz about the park today.
This was the first show we've had, since the club got renovated & since the Scottish Government built the new "club off ramp" from the M74.
The tombola & kitchen were, as usual, well run by Derek, James, Agnes & Pamella, our thanks go to them all.
If our other shows, this year, are half as good, this will be a year to remember.
Best of all, looks like we got seven new members.
