After the longest period of dry weather for many years, the level of the pond was at its lowest level ever and despite assurances from the council that the pond would be filled for the show, we were very concerned that the level was still critically low on Thursday. However, the council were true to their word and we were met with a pond full to the brim with clean fresh water on Sunday.
With spirits high, the set up for the show went very smoothly, harbours, bunting and flags appeared as if by magic and Glasgow Richmond MBC was back in business. Very soon, boats were on the water and the display stand filled with superb models, all we needed now was the public and they soon appeared, in there droves. The boats sailing in the pond grew and grew and very soon a great selection where cruising in and out of the harbour.
A club member commented that this was turning out to be the best event for a very long time.
Our visitors from Ireland, Edinburgh and England made our first show of the year even more special and the club is very grateful for their commitment to attend the show.
The sight of the activity on the pond attracted visitors from the new pub and many came over to see what the commotion was, they were very impressed indeed, one family from Oatlands thought the show was tremendous and enquired, if we would be holding another one, I assured them we were planning to hold many more and they were looking forward to visiting the next one.
All in all, it was a very enjoyable and relaxed day, the club members pulled out all the stops as usual to make the day very successful indeed, a big thank you to you all.
Also a huge thank you to the Council and Avant homes, without who’s help, the show would never have gone ahead and finally to our visitors from Ireland, England and Edinburgh who’s visit made the show all the more enjoyable.
Thank you everyone.
