Where are we
Hessilhead Wildlife Rescue Trust
8th June 2014
Sailing models is not the only intererst GRMBC takes around the pond, the fact is, we go to great lengths to involve ourselves in all aspects of the park.
Hessilhead Wildlife Rescue Trust has been at it’s present site since 1979. It’s founding members are Andy Christie and his good wife. The Centre opens it’s doors to the public once a year, from 12 noon until 4 pm.
To put it mildly the centre is somewhat off the beaten track and it always astounds me that so many people manage to find the place, but they do, and in their hundreds. Andy and his many helpers create a tented village, consisting of stalls that sell bric-a-brac, tombola, bottle stall, pot plants, books, Centre merchandise, and of course burgers, tea, coffee and soft drinks. Due to the bad weather on the night prior to the show, Andy was telling me that it was touch and go as to whether the show was going ahead as planned. It was quite amusing to see some of the publics choices, under the heading of “sensible footwear”.
I’m sure the Centre will make a good few Pounds, towards what can only be described as a very worth while cause.
