End of Season Sail, September 2010

Ah Well. thats another successful show under our belts. As usual, a few guy`s made it to the club on Saturday to make the usual preperations for the End of Season Show.

I was surprised that Mr Scrooge, Erm ... sorry, I mean our esteemed treasurer, dug deep into the bottomless pockets of his breeks, to get the lunch in for the lads who came along to help
out, thanks Cap`n Ron, the pies were delicious.

The show went off without a hitch on Sunday, except for the usual comments of `What time of the afternoon is this to turn up Mr Chairman Sir`.   Honest guy`s ... I got caught up in the traffic !

Crowd at clubThe rain started pouring down as we were setting up but it soon cleared, and it stayed dry for the rest of the day. After a pretty slow start the crowds started to arrive ( much to the relief of us all) and it ended up a very successful event.

The Tug towing demonstrations went down very well with the public and the Wee Nip races were great fun as usual, with yours truly, once again failing to listen to course instructions and going for a tour of the pond with some other Nipsters in hot pursuit! ( It felt pretty good actually, as not many people chase after me!)

The Static model display gained particular interest and I think we may have some potential future members in the pipeline.

The raffle was a great success (as usual) and a big thank you to the club members for their kind donations of prizes.

I would like to thank all the members for their continued support of  our club events, once again, a tremendous number of you made the effort to come and set up the show, a very big THANK YOU  to all involved, as without your continued support these events just couldn`t take place.

Harry's TugI would also like to give our warmest thanks to the members of Knightswood, Elderpark,
East Kilbride and Ayr Model Boat Clubs for taking the time to come along and join in the fun, It`s most appreciated, this type of inter club co-operation can only bode well for the future of Model Boating in Scotland.

As you all know, the proceeds from this event shall be added to the balance collected from the charity auction and donated to a charity of the members choice, to be decided at the AGM.

So, what more can I say?

Workers removing bargeThats the end of our Public Show programme  for 2010. I personally, think they have ALL been a fantastic success and that is down to you, the club members for your unstinting support throughout the year.

My heart felt thanks to you all, and long may it continue.

Please take the time to look at the club notice board and our website for "special club members events" being planned for remainder of the year

Kindest Regards to you all.
