This year saw the 6th National Warship Weekend, which was held at Richmond park, home of GRMBC and what a show it was. Instead of the usual Glasgow fair weather,
the sun was splitting the sky as the members sprung to work, erecting the tented village, which housed over 130 model warships on display from all over the UK, we also had a club from Belgium, MBV (Model Boat Friends) Hofstade, with their models.

There was a vast array of warships on display, from Victorian battleships and torpedo boats to the latest destroyers TBDand combat ships and everything in between. The size of models varied as well, from only a few inches in length, to over 9ft.

With on the water sailing & ships navigating around the minefields and the newly converted aircraft carrier the Peter Shepherd, aka, HMS Chameleon, there was a lot for people to see.

Another big attraction was Rex Hunt's model of HMS Hermes, the British flagship from the Falklands, with all the working features of aircraft taking off and the ships band playing. Rex displays this model to gather funds on behalf of Help for Heros

On the Sunday the competitions were held and a well done to the winners.Rex with Hermes

The best in show went to HMS Hermes, the Bill Loney memorial trophy to Gary Mills with HMS Leopard, the formation sailing event was won by Michael Bond, Stevie Houston and Iain Cassidy, the single sailing event was won by Iain Cassidy

The weekend was a great success and everyone enjoyed themselves. Without all the hard work that members have put in, this event would not be the success that it has become.
